2nd March 2010; Oxford - Nielsen is a global leader in providing consumer-focused marketing data to manufacturers of FMCG products.

Sales information is gathered at the point of sale and provides clients with essential facts on how their products are performing, market trends and sales results. It also provides critical information on distribution and the effectiveness of in-store promotions.

Whilst the majority of this data is collected ‘electronically’, there are a number of CTN stores that are currently audited manually. Nielsen realised that if an Epos system could be installed in these sites, the data could be provided electronically thus helping to increase the integrity of the data and supply it within stricter timescales.

The initial contract is to provide VME Retail’s IntelliStore Back Office and Point of Sale systems installed on new touchsceen tills to 35 shops with the possibility of more in the future. VME Retail will ‘poll’ the sales data from these shops and provide it to Nielsen on a weekly basis.

Installations will be taking place during quarters 3 and 4 2010, and quarter 1 2011.
